PickMan™ is a software application integrated to Retail Pro® series 8 that facilitates the fulfillment and shipping of Sales Orders.
For retailers that have a web store, catalog, or take sales orders at stores yet ship them from a central warehouse, the logistics of fulfilling those orders can be clumsy and time consuming. In an attempt to ease the pain of fulfilling orders Retail Dimensions developed Pickman.
PickMan
1. Pickman pulls sales orders directly from the Retail Pro database. This is based on user entered criteria like: Order Date, Sales Order Number, Ship Date and others. Pickman is configurable to either pull orders that have enough quantity on hand to completely fill the order or that have quantity on hand to fill some portion of the order.
2. The Sales Orders are stored in a Microsoft Access database and presented in Pickman to the person in the warehouse (gatekeeper) responsible for deciding which orders to pick. The orders can, at one click, be sorted by any column, including: order date, ship date, ship method, bin location, order number and others.
3. The gatekeeper can then quickly sort the orders and select one or all for printing Picking Tickets. Upon printing, the orders are assigned a status of printed and moved to a different location in Pickman so they cannot be reprinted by accident. The Pickers then gather the merchandise on that order and bring to the verifier at a Retail Pro workstation.
4. The Picking Tickets print with a barcode of the Retail Pro SO number on it. Once the order is presented to the verifying station the barcode can be scanned in Retail Pro bringing up the Sales Order. If the order is verified it can be recorded, packed for final shipping and moved down the line for shipment. Pickman also contains hooks for UPS WorldShip integration.
