Publisher software packages generally do a good job of the basic fundamentals
of POS & inventory management. The core functionality has been designed
in. However "off the shelf" software cannot possibly be all things to
all retailers. A need may exist for an application that will make a distribution
center more efficient by streamlining the fulfillment process or an application
that will take orders through a web browser and pass them to the retail
software for fulfillment, or perhaps a retailer has a large investment
in a type of scanner their package won't support and through an add-on
development they can be used preserving the retailers investment .Retailers
are never short on ideas on how their software could be improved through
add-ons. Retail Dimensions has a long history of building these add-on
type applications and successfully integrating them to publisher software.
